Graduate Civil Engineer, Land Development – Clearwater, FL

Pennoni is seeking a talented and motivated Graduate Civil Engineer to join our dynamic Land Development team on a full-time, direct basis in the Clearwater, FL area. This is an excellent opportunity for recent and upcoming graduates to contribute to a wide variety of site development projects, both public and private.

About the Role

As a Graduate Civil Engineer, you will play a crucial role in assisting with multi-discipline designs across diverse projects, including:

  • Residential developments
  • Commercial sites
  • Office complexes
  • Hospitality ventures
  • Warehousing facilities
  • Healthcare institutions
  • Educational campuses
  • Industrial sites
  • Energy projects
  • Infrastructure improvements, and more.

Primary Responsibilities

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the preparation of feasibility studies, engineering drawings, specifications, and comprehensive reports.
  • Contributing to the design and detailing of essential site components such as site layout, grading plans, roadway infrastructure, and utility systems.
  • Engaging in stormwater management (SWM) efforts, which involve:
    • Hydrologic and Hydraulic (H&H) modeling.
    • Erosion and Sediment Control (E&SC) design.
  • Supporting permitting efforts by understanding and applying local, state, and federal ordinances and regulations.
  • Performing additional tasks as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to learn and grow within the team.

Basic Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline (e.g., Construction Engineering, Environmental Engineering).
  • RECENT AND UPCOMING GRADUATES ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO APPLY!

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates demonstrating the following qualifications will be highly regarded:

  • Possession of the FE / EIT certification.
  • Some experience working with stormwater management design calculations, particularly while utilizing Hydrology and Hydraulics (H&H) modeling tools, is a significant plus.
  • Proficiency with engineering design tools, such as CADD software and project management software.
    • Exposure to AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Bluebeam Revu is a definite advantage.
  • Proficiency in basic office software applications, especially Microsoft Office 365 and Adobe.
  • A proven ability to conceptualize the “Big Picture” alongside project goals, effectively coordinating and prioritizing various design tasks.
  • Excellent organizational skills, coupled with a proven ability to thrive in an energetic and challenging work environment on a variety of projects.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with a team while demonstrating a self-motivated demeanor and strong multi-tasking skills.
  • A proven track record of punctuality with consistent attendance.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
