The Tone:
This is a temporary contract role at Varina High School, located in Henrico, VA. Henrico County Public Schools is one of Virginia’s six largest county public school divisions, recognized nationally for its educational program. This position supports the high school’s field hockey program, contributing to the development of student-athletes through interscholastic competition. The role is crucial in fostering principles of fair play, confidence, and self-discipline within the team.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Program Organization: Assist the head coach in the overall organization of the field hockey program.
• Student Supervision: Supervise student-athletes safely during daily practices and at games.
• Player Preparation: Prepare players both physically and mentally for interscholastic competition.
• Skill Instruction: Teach fundamental field hockey skills and ensure knowledge of rules among players.
• Equipment Management: Assist in the cleaning, storage, and proper care of all team equipment.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Prior experience playing the sport of field hockey.
• Experience: Demonstrated prior participation in field hockey is required for this role.
• Skills: Knowledge of field hockey fundamentals and rules, ability to supervise student-athletes, and capability to prepare players for competition.
• Bonus: Prior coaching experience is preferred.
