The Tone:
This is an internship at Ducommun, located in St. Croix Falls, WI. Ducommun is California’s oldest company, founded in 1849, with a rich history of supporting pioneers in aerospace and industrial markets. Today, Ducommun is a global provider of manufacturing solutions, specializing in electronic and structural systems for commercial aircraft, military, space, and sophisticated industrial applications. Their St. Croix Falls facility specifically develops ammunition handling and delivery systems. This role provides essential engineering support to these critical systems, contributing to both product development and documentation processes.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Management: Manage all aspects of small projects, ensuring regular review by senior staff.
• System Development: Develop and conduct prototype testing for ammunition handling systems.
• Documentation Support: Process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and support the creation of essential engineering documentation.
• Compliance: Adhere to the general requirements expected of all team members.
• Additional Tasks: Perform other assigned duties as required to support engineering operations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Upper-level or Graduate student studying Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a similar field from an accredited College or University, who will be continuing education post-internship.
• Experience: None explicitly required beyond academic standing for the internship.
• Skills: 3D CAD modeling and drawing (Autodesk Inventor preferred); Proficient technical writing and documentation; Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings; Understanding of Design of Experiments (DOE); Troubleshooting and problem-solving.
• Bonus: Prior experience with an ISO or AS9100 environment; Prior hands-on experience with hand tools and hardware; Prior experience on an engineering team (school or personal projects included).
