The Tone:
This is an hourly/temporary role at Deep Run High School, located in Glen Allen, VA. Deep Run High School is a part of Henrico County Public Schools, one of Virginia’s six largest county public school divisions with a nationally recognized educational program. This position is vital for fostering principles of fair play, confidence, and self-discipline among student-athletes through the development and extension of various field hockey-related skills during interscholastic competition. The role contributes to the school division’s mission of actively engaging students in diverse learning experiences that inspire and empower them.

• Team: Assistant Field Hockey Coach, working under the Head Coach.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Program Organization: Assist the head coach in the organization of the overall hockey program.
• Student Supervision: Supervise student-athletes during daily practices and at games.
• Player Preparation: Prepare players both physically and mentally for interscholastic competition.
• Skill Development: Teach fundamental field hockey skills and knowledge of rules.
• Equipment Management: Assist in the cleaning, storage, and proper care of all team equipment.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Prior experience playing field hockey at a competitive level is required.
• Experience: Specific experience in the sport of field hockey is essential for this role.
• Skills: Ability to teach fundamental field hockey skills, knowledge of rules, player preparation, and equipment care.
• Bonus: Prior coaching experience is preferred for this position.
