Detention Equipment Engineer – Detailed Job Description
CML Security is seeking a dedicated and skilled Detention Equipment Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be pivotal in the design and implementation of comprehensive detention equipment systems for various facilities. You will collaborate closely with general contractors, architects, and owners to provide optimal solutions for the construction and design of detention facilities, ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and reliability.
As a Detention Equipment Engineer, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of detention equipment systems, encompassing glazing, doors, frames, hardware, and specialized detention furnishings. Your expertise will bridge design concepts with practical field application, ensuring successful project completion from initial design to final installation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Implementation: Lead the design and implementation of complete detention equipment systems, including but not limited to glazing, doors, frames, hardware, and detention furnishings.
- Communication & Collaboration: Maintain constant and thorough communication with the project management team, vendors, general contractors, and architects to ensure seamless project execution.
- Proactive Problem Solving: Anticipate potential issues, identify solutions in advance, and address problems promptly to maintain project momentum and avoid delays.
- Technical Interpretation: Accurately interpret complex architectural and engineering drawings and translate design information into practical, applied methods and material specifications for field implementation.
- Documentation Management: Compile all necessary submittal documentation for formal submission to project architects, consultants, or owners, ensuring compliance and clarity.
- Detailed Design Drawings: Create comprehensive and detailed design drawings to effectively communicate design intent and specifications to both internal and external project team members.
- RFI Management: Generate and submit Requests for Information (RFIs) through the project management team to clarify inconsistencies in contract documents or resolve design intent ambiguities.
- Cost-Effective Design: Develop system designs that are cost-effective, efficient, and reliable, benefiting both CML Security and our customers.
- Procurement Support: Provide essential support to the project team in procuring all necessary detention equipment for field activities.
- Project Reviews: Schedule and conduct regular project reviews with the project management team and vendors to ensure strict adherence to design intent and all project schedules.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 20 lbs as needed for various tasks.
- Travel: Travel to various project sites as assigned and as reasonably required to oversee implementation and conduct site visits.
- Administrative Duties: Perform basic office duties, including typing, copying, emailing, and other administrative tasks.
- Flexible Hours: May be required to work outside of normal business hours, as dictated by project demands and timelines.
- Effective Communication: Communicate regularly and effectively with all stakeholders as appropriate.
- Culture & Values: Uphold and maintain the standards, culture, and values of CML Security in all professional interactions.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned to support project and company objectives.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent related industry experience required.
- Experience: 1-2 years of related experience preferred.
- Software Proficiency (Required): Strong skills in Microsoft Suite of Software (Word, Excel, Outlook), Microsoft Project, Adobe or Bluebeam, and Timberline or similar accounting software.
- Software Proficiency (Preferred): AutoCAD and Revit experience is preferred.
- Industry Knowledge: Construction knowledge preferred.
- Licensure: Valid Driver’s License required.
- Certifications: OSHA-10 certification is required.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Pay Range: $55,000 to $75,000 Annually.
