About the Job

The Business Intelligence Intern plays a crucial role in supporting data-driven decision-making and strategic initiatives across ArcBest and its subsidiaries. This position focuses on the completion of descriptive analytical reports and dashboards, impacting a wide and ever-changing variety of business subjects. You will gain hands-on experience in transforming raw data into actionable insights that drive business strategy.

Responsibilities

• Requirements Analysis: Analyze user requirements and design functional specifications for Business Intelligence (BI) solutions. Estimate the effort needed for these projects.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders to thoroughly document user requirements for data, dashboards, and reports, ensuring solutions align with business needs.
• Solution Development: Design, develop, deploy, and meticulously document enterprise BI solutions. These solutions will leverage common data architecture and employ data optimization approaches to ensure efficiency and scalability.
• Testing & Performance: Rigorously test, troubleshoot, evaluate, and improve the performance of developed business intelligence artifacts, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
• Analytical Support: Collaborate with and provide support to business analysts throughout the enterprise, sharing best practice analytics strategies and techniques.
• Project Participation: Actively participate in special projects, contributing to diverse initiatives across the company.
• Continuous Learning: Utilize offered training opportunities, including assigned trainers, self-study modules, and formal courses, to continuously enhance skills and knowledge.
• Other Duties: Perform other duties and projects as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to contribute wherever needed.

Requirements

Education

• Currently pursuing a degree in Analytics or a related field.

Experience

• Preferred: Prior experience or coursework in data modeling, requirements analysis, business analysis, data storytelling, and data visualization.

Computer Skills

• Required: Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, SQL, and Power BI.

Additional Requirements

• Knowledge of relational and multidimensional database designs, warehousing processes and designs, various business intelligence platforms, and software development technologies (Visual Studio preferred).

Other Details

Work Hours

This is a temporary intern position. The work schedule will generally fall between 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, with occasional irregular hours depending on workload and project demands.

Travel Requirements

Minimal (0%-25%) travel may be required.

Compensation

This is an hourly position, paid biweekly.
