IT Systems Analyst Intern | Maximus
The Tone:
This is an internship at Maximus, located remotely. Maximus specializes in building crucial Medicaid, Medicare, and health insurance exchange solutions for Federal and State clients. This role is important as it supports systems implementation and software development efforts, contributing to the delivery of these essential health solutions. The intern will actively leverage AI-enabled tools to enhance the clarity, speed, and quality of project delivery, while also gaining invaluable knowledge of general business principles and government process improvement.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Work on IT assignments of moderate difficulty under the direction of a senior mentor to build a well-rounded skillset.
• Research, analyze, and document functional and non-functional requirements for critical health solutions.
• Leverage AI to draft epics, user stories, and detailed acceptance criteria for software development.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and requirement delivery processes within cross-functional teams.
• Prepare standard reports and presentation materials, demonstrating AI technologies and their use cases.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled and pursuing an Information Systems or similar degree.
• Experience: 0-2 years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Skills: Knowledge of systems analysis, data modeling, or design principles; strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills; excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication; experience using AI-assisted tools for documentation, analysis, and research; ability to write and refine prompts for accurate AI outputs, with an awareness of responsible AI principles.
• Bonus: Understanding of database query languages such as SQL.
