Job Description
Braun Intertec Corporation, a leader in engineering and environment consulting, is seeking engineering students for a 3-month Internship within our Geotechnical Engineering Department. This position offers a dynamic experience working in and reporting to the engineering department, performing a mix of field and office duties. This position is located in Fargo, ND.
Key Opportunities:
- Perform and observe engineering field tests, including but not limited to double-ring infiltrometer, PDA (Pile Driving Analyzer), and pressure meter testing. Following testing, you may be involved in the analysis of test results, engineering calculations, and report preparation.
- Observe construction of various components such as rammed aggregate piers, helical anchors, and sheet piles to ensure conformance with project documents.
- Perform visual and manual classification of soil samples to aid in the preparation of soil boring logs.
- Conduct geotechnical analysis and calculations as requested, under the guidance of a professional engineer.
- Develop scopes of work and manage construction materials testing projects.
- Assist with the preparation of geotechnical engineering reports.
- Benefit from mentoring from a licensed engineer, gaining practical engineering experience to develop your professional skills.
- Perform construction materials testing as requested by the engineering department to support field service operations or engineering evaluations. This may include soil density or concrete testing, and excavation observations.
- Assist with the installation and monitoring of in-situ geotechnical instrumentation.
- Learn procedures and gain exposure to industry standards such as ASTM, AASHTO, ICC, and DOT.
- Enhance your professional résumé with valuable experience and references from a well-respected engineering consulting firm.

Required Skills:
- Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% and for overnight stays.
- Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as necessary.
Required Experience:
- Currently enrolled as a college student working toward a civil engineering degree.
- Some related work experience is preferred, but top applicants will be trained.
Compensation:
The compensation range is based on an annual salary and is between $36,000.00 – $54,000.00.
