The Tone:
This is a seasonal contract role at Black Rocket, offered across various US locations, including over 30 states. Black Rocket delivers unique educational programs focused on the intersection of creativity and technology, helping students explore subjects like video game creation, coding, and robotics. This role is crucial for inspiring children aged 6-14, fostering critical thinking, self-empowerment, and creative problem solving through hands-on learning experiences. Assistant Instructors play a vital part in igniting and enhancing distinct talents, preparing kids for tomorrow in a way they find cool and engaging.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Instruction: Work directly with children aged 6-14, guiding them through technology and creative projects.
• Inspiration: Foster an engaging learning environment, inspiring students in subjects like coding, video game creation, robotics, and digital arts.
• Support: Provide in-room assistance and troubleshooting for students encountering technical or digital art challenges.
• Training: Complete comprehensive paid online training in May, preparing for summer program instruction.
• Facilitation: Deliver exciting classes on topics such as Minecraft, movie making, animation, 3D modeling, and STEM.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be 18 years of age or older, authorized to work in the United States, and possess a genuine love for working with children aged 6-14. Candidates should be located within driving distance of one of Black Rocket’s partner regions and have reliable transportation.
• Experience: Available to commit to working a minimum of 4 weeks, up to 10 weeks, Monday through Friday, during the summer season. Required to start online training in May, which is self-paced. While no formal experience is required, prior experience with children in an educational or informal setting (e.g., babysitting, volunteering, coaching, tutoring) is highly preferred.
• Skills: Demonstrated strong technology skills in areas such as 3D modeling, coding (Python, Javascript, Lua), game creation or design, animation, robotics, modifying games, video editing, digital arts, competitive gaming, or significant knowledge of Minecraft or Roblox. Essential troubleshooting abilities in tech and digital arts for supporting students.
• Bonus: College students currently studying education, computer science, digital arts, information technology, or similar STEM fields are strongly encouraged to apply, as are those with strong tech or digital arts backgrounds.
