IT Operations Intern | Virtua

The Tone:
This is an IT Operations Internship at Virtua Health, located in Marlton, NJ. Virtua is a leading regional health system dedicated to providing high-quality patient care and ensuring efficient healthcare operations. This internship offers a significant opportunity for aspiring professionals in Computer Science, Information Systems, and related technical fields to gain practical experience. Interns will play a supportive role in critical IT operations, contributing to various projects and service management, which is essential for the seamless functioning of a modern health system.

The TL;DR
• Role: IT Operations Internship
• Type: Part-time (15-25 hours per week)
• Location: In-person, Marlton, NJ
• Team: This role is part of the IT Operations team, taking direction from an administrative sponsor.
• Mission: To provide essential support for the day-to-day resolution of Service Management issues and to assist with the coordination of services across various teams, thereby ensuring smooth health system operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Service Delivery: Contribute to the delivery of high-quality services that directly support and align with the health system’s overarching business objectives.
• Incident Support: Actively support the daily processes and tasks involved in resolving Service Management issues, ensuring timely and effective solutions.
• Team Coordination: Provide crucial assistance in coordinating efforts and communications among different internal teams to streamline the provision of IT services and facilitate efficient incident remediation.
• Project Contribution: Execute all assigned duties and tasks in a prompt and thorough manner, under the direct guidance of an administrative sponsor, consistently demonstrating Virtua’s core STAR qualities.
• Learning & Reporting: Engage in shadowing experienced Virtua employees to gain deeper operational insights, and complete a final report and presentation as specified by the administrative sponsor before the internship concludes.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be currently enrolled in or a recent graduate (within the last year) of an academic program in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline. This includes high school, undergraduate, and graduate level students who are actively matriculating.
• Experience: While no prior professional work experience is explicitly required, candidates must submit a comprehensive resume and a clear statement of objective/learning goals before the internship commences, demonstrating preparedness and career aspirations.
• Skills: Strong ability to follow instructions and adapt to new tasks; effective communication skills for collaborating with various teams; a proactive, self-motivated approach with a consistently positive attitude; and a commitment to completing assigned duties efficiently and on schedule, aligning with Virtua’s STAR qualities.
