1st Shift Truss Assembler Associate

Job Purpose

As a Truss Assembler Associate, you will assist the Table Leader in assembling roof and floor trusses. This role involves performing one or more repetitive tasks on an assembly line, strictly following work order specifications. Key responsibilities include material placement, fastening, part adjustment, and utilizing hand tools as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow instructions from the Table Leader to assist in the truss assembly process.
  • Work primarily on the assembly table, operating a staple gun to secure wooden pieces and facilitate assembly (applies to some assembly lines).
  • Select and position connector plates at the specified assembly points according to the work order.
  • Use the automatic press (pressure roll) to secure connector plates.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Assist in checking materials and completed trusses for defects or misalignment before moving to the next stage.
  • Ensure tools (staple guns, presses, etc.) are in good working condition and report any issues to the supervisor.
  • Follow all company safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and awareness of emergency procedures.
  • Assist in moving and organizing wood, connector plates, and other materials needed for assembly.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by Management.

Qualifications

  • Ability to follow safety regulations, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Basic problem-solving skills and ability to follow simple instructions.
  • Strong teamwork skills and willingness to collaborate with others.

Job Requirements & Conditions

  • Occasional extended hours may be required.
  • Work in a manufacturing environment characterized by high temperatures, noise, and dust.
  • Exposure to machinery, moving parts, and associated safety risks.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, from extreme heat to cold.
  • Exposure to wood dust, debris, and flying particles.
  • Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times (safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, etc.).
  • Willingness to work overtime or different shifts based on production needs.
  • Reliable transportation and consistent attendance are essential.

Physical Requirements & Essential Physical Demands

  • Standing for extended periods on concrete floors.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs repeatedly during the shift.
  • Occasionally pushing or elevating up to 110 lbs.
  • Frequent bending and reaching at ground level.
  • Frequent kneeling, squatting, and working at table level.
  • Continuous use of hand and pneumatic tools such as hammers and staple guns.

Core Skills and Experience

  • Ability to read a tape measure and basic measurements accurately.
  • Prior experience in construction, framing/carpentry, roofing, warehouse, or manufacturing assembly is preferred.
