A Day in the Life: Project Manager Intern Responsibilities
As a Project Manager Intern, you will have the opportunity to assist Project Managers with various critical aspects of construction projects, including:
- Estimating: Describing project proposals and assigning dollar values to projects.
- Scheduling: Creating working timelines for subcontractors/trades to ensure on-time project completion.
- Design Meetings: Attending design meetings with owners and teams to understand design, structural engineering, and architectural aspects.
- Buyout: Sending bid instructions, schedules, and drawings to subcontractors; receiving and evaluating proposals, and awarding subcontracts.
- Permitting: Filling out and submitting permit forms with drawings and fees to city/county/fire departments and managing approval processes.
- Shop Drawing and Submittal Review: Receiving and reviewing shop drawings or submittals from subcontractors, communicating with Project Managers, and authorizing material ordering and work commencement.
- Billing: Managing subcontracts, change orders, pay requests, and pay applications.
- Job Site Visits: Visiting job sites with Project Managers to ensure smooth project operations.
Necessary Qualifications
ARCO is looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management.
- Minimum Grade Point Average of 3.0 out of 4.0.
- Previous Internship or Co-op construction experience preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A strong work ethic.
