TEAM OVERVIEW: AGS Supplier Engineering Group
The AGS Supplier Engineering Group is an international team composed of various discipline engineers. This team is responsible for collaborating with suppliers to validate their manufacturing capabilities, ensuring they can build parts according to Applied Materials’ drawings and requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES of the Intern:
As a Supplier Engineering Intern, you will be involved in critical aspects of supplier collaboration and product development:
- New Product Development (NPI) Integration: Work with NPI teams to ensure engineering drawing requirements are clear, have integrity, and are effectively communicated to supporting suppliers.
- Design for Manufacturability: Interact with New Product Introduction teams to ensure suppliers are actively involved in the development and review of specifications, promoting efficient and cost-effective manufacturing processes.
- Process Improvement & Cost Reduction: Utilize project management skills and quality tools to investigate alternative manufacturing processes aimed at reducing costs or improving product quality and reliability.
- Supplier Base Development: Continuously contribute to the Supplier Selection Process to cultivate a supply base that offers a competitive advantage in terms of quality, value/cost, delivery, and technology.
- Quality Assurance & Problem Resolution:
- Assist with quality problem resolutions and incident management.
- Work directly with Special Process Suppliers (e.g., Cleaning, Plating, Anodization, Surface Treatments, Coatings).
- Be involved in quality resolution efforts with suppliers.
- Cross-functional Partnership: Collaborate closely with Supplier Chain, Project Management, Engineering, and Quality teams.
REQUIREMENTS/EDUCATION:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in any Engineering Discipline.
- Academic Standing: GPA of 3.0 or above preferred.
