Electrochemical Engineering Intern | Redwood Materials

The Tone:
This is a full-time internship at Redwood Materials, a company focused on localizing a global battery supply chain. Redwood Materials integrates recovery, reuse, and recycling to keep critical minerals in circulation and advance the energy transition, producing low-cost, large-scale energy storage and battery materials in the U.S. This role is crucial for supporting the company’s research and development, pilot projects, and commercial scale production operations through work in electrochemistry, chemistry, and various engineering disciplines.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Support research, development, pilot projects, and commercial scale production operations.
• Conduct: Conduct laboratory test work across electrochemistry, chemistry, and various engineering disciplines.
• Develop: Perform model-driven development with a focus on achieving rapid scale-up of processes.
• Operate: Operate independently within a wet chemistry lab, managing hazardous materials and power supplies safely.
• Analyze: Utilize spreadsheet-based analysis and modeling to interpret experimental data and findings.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career professional pursuing a B.S. or advanced degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, materials science, electrochemistry, or another discipline with significant relevant coursework.
• Experience: Demonstrated ability to operate independently while conducting experiments in a wet chemistry lab, including handling hazardous materials and power supplies. Excellent computer proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, and comfort with spreadsheet-based analysis and modeling.
• Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within instructions. Self-motivated, hands-on mindset with a willingness to contribute at all levels. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
