The Tone:
This is an unpaid clinical internship at Arbour Counseling Services, located in Allston, Massachusetts. Arbour Counseling Services, a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, provides trusted quality behavioral health and substance use treatment programs. This internship offers high-quality training and supervision for students aiming to become counselors or therapists within a multi-leveled, multi-faceted, and multidisciplinary Behavioral Healthcare System. The program prepares interns to provide meaningful and quality care to those in need, fostering professional development in a challenging environment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Clinical Assessments: Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments to diagnose a variety of mental health and substance use disorders.
• Treatment Planning: Develop individualized treatment plans based on client needs and clinical findings.
• Therapy Delivery: Lead group therapy sessions, including psychotherapy, expressive therapy, and psychoeducation, and provide individual therapy interventions.
• Case Management: Manage client cases, which includes aftercare planning, making appropriate referrals, and handling crisis situations.
• Program Operations: Administer and execute the programmatic daily operations required for a higher level of care setting.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled as a 2nd Year Master’s student, seeking a 2nd clinical internship (or equivalent academic standing).
• Experience: Availability for 24 hours per week, across three days (8:30am-5pm), for a full year program.
• Skills: Ability to conduct clinical assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, facilitate group and individual therapy, perform case management, and manage crisis situations and risk assessments.
