Special Events Intern | City of Kenmore
The Tone:
This is a part-time seasonal internship at the City of Kenmore, a vibrant community located on Lake Washington, providing seven miles of waterfront along the lake and Sammamish River. The City’s Special Events Team enhances public life, and this role directly supports the team in bringing engaging summer experiences to residents. As an intern, you will play a crucial role in the preparation, coordination, and execution of diverse community events, helping to foster connection and celebration across Kenmore.

• Mission: Supports the successful planning and execution of Kenmore’s 2026 summer community events for a thriving public experience.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
What You’ll Actually Do
• Event Planning: Assist in the comprehensive planning and preparation stages of 2026 Special Events.
• Event Execution: Support all event operations, including setup, active management, and clean-up for scheduled Special Events.
• Promotion & Outreach: Coordinate the distribution of flyers, posters, and other promotional materials, and update local event calendars.
• Community Engagement: Assist with scheduling and recruiting special event volunteers, and create and distribute surveys for community feedback.
• Digital Content: Capture event photographs and manage social media posts to highlight ongoing activities.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program with a major in Communications, Hospitality Business Management, or a similar field. This is an early-career internship position.
• Experience: Must be 18 years of age by May 4, 2026. Available to work 12-20 hours per week, including 10+ hour shifts, evenings, and weekends, with flexibility allowed for studies and potential for more hours when school is not in session.
• Skills: Ability to operate conventional motor vehicles to perform work in various locations. A valid Washington State Driver’s License with a good driving record is required. Ability to work in the office and in the field under normal and inclement weather conditions.
• Bonus: Excellent written and oral communication skills with attention to detail, especially in creating public-facing correspondence. Ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Prior experience working special events.
