About the Engineering Intern Position
The Engineering Intern will join our Engineering Department, providing crucial support for various projects within our steelmaking and remelting operations. This internship offers an exceptional chance to gain practical, real-world engineering experience and learn from seasoned professionals in the field.
Note on Pre-employment Checks: Candidates will be required to submit to a criminal background investigation. A hair follicle drug screening will be administered upon receiving an offer of employment. Applicants must also be able to provide proof of a High School Diploma or GED upon hire.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the engineering team on the development and execution of engineering projects specifically related to steelmaking and remelting operations.
- Provide assistance with project planning and implementation, including critical tasks such as data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
- Support Engineers in construction management activities.
- Work cooperatively with other departments within the facility to ensure all project goals are successfully met.
- Conduct technical research and thorough analysis to support ongoing engineering projects and new initiatives.
- Aid in equipment and process troubleshooting to effectively identify and resolve operational issues.
- Support the engineering team with daily tasks and responsibilities as needed, demonstrating flexibility and initiative.
- Mandatory Project Presentation: Interns are required to develop and deliver a presentation to management members near the end of the internship, detailing projects undertaken and lessons learned.
- Adhere strictly to all policies and procedures established by the Company, including all plant safety regulations and work rules.
- Be available for emergency situations that may arise outside of regular work hours or the standard workweek.
- Meet all attendance requirements set by the company.
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary to support department objectives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must currently be enrolled in an accredited engineering program and have successfully completed a minimum of three (3) years of the program.
- Possess excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills and the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exhibit strong technical skills and the ability to work with data and perform analytical information processing.
- Ability to work independently and be self-directed, taking initiative without constant supervision.
- Ability to adjust to a continuously changing and dynamic work environment.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant engineering software applications.
- Required to have an active and valid driver’s license, or demonstrate the ability to travel and commute as required, in compliance with the Motor Vehicle Safety Program.
