The TL;DR
• Role: Groundworker
• Type: Full-time
• Team: Works closely with journeyman linemen; part of the Union – IBEW Local 50 VA/NC/WVA.
• Mission: To support the construction, operation, and maintenance of the Electrical Distribution System to ensure reliable energy delivery.
• Tech Stack: Diggers, aerial devices, trucks, hand tools.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Provide essential tools, materials, and supplies to journeyman linemen on worksites.
• Safety: Actively ensure all safety rules and regulations are consistently observed on every worksite.
• Logistics: Drive and diligently maintain company trucks, ensuring they are properly stocked for assignments.
• Preparation: Prepare equipment and worksites efficiently to facilitate the effective completion of assignments.
• Operation: Operate various types of construction equipment, including diggers and aerial devices.

The Must-Haves
• Background: High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience: Must be 18 years of age or older with a valid Driver’s License and a strong driving record. Required to obtain a Class A CDL learner’s permit within one month of employment and a Class A CDL within six months of employment.
• Skills: Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and carry up to 60 pounds on a regular basis, capability to work on ladders and hydraulic lifts, ability to quickly respond to emergency overtime callouts, and computer application aptitude.
• Bonus: Preferred qualifications include possessing a Class A or B CDL or permit, OSHA 10 or 30 certification, CPR, First Aid or AED certification, previous experience with mechanical or electrical concepts, a military background, or experience in construction or outdoor work environments.
