Journalist Intern | A Hot Set

The Tone:
This is an unpaid, virtual internship at A Hot Set. The company focuses on covering news and stories within the global entertainment industry, specifically through the lens of people of color, providing in-depth commentary, insights, and analysis. This role is crucial for contributing weekly content that keeps the audience informed and on the pulse of the evolving role POCs play in shaping entertainment media. The internship offers valuable writing experience for someone eager to contribute to this mission.

• Mission: To create weekly in-depth articles, commentary, and reviews covering film, TV, creator, or business content that identifies with and relates to A Hot Set’s target demographic.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Article Production: Write weekly in-depth articles pertaining to the entertainment industry.
• Commentary Creation: Develop weekly commentary pieces on industry-related topics.
• Review Writing: Produce weekly reviews of films and/or TV series from various genres.
• Content Specialization: Cover film, TV, creator, or business content specifically as it identifies with and relates to A Hot Set’s target demographic.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career level with a strong aptitude or interest in writing about the business side of the entertainment industry. Demonstrated aptitude or interest in reviewing film or TV series across various genres.
• Experience: Prior writing experience, evidenced by three published clips. Ability to apply critical and intellectual thinking to produce socially relevant, fact-based commentary.
• Skills: Proficient writing skills for creating articles, commentary, and reviews. Critical thinking skills to develop socially relevant content. Intellectual thinking skills for analytical and fact-based writing.
