Junior Accountant & Administrative Associate

Building Equity Management (BEM) is a fast-growing boutique property management firm based in New York City. We manage a portfolio of residential buildings throughout Manhattan and pride ourselves on delivering highly responsive, detail-driven service through an efficient and collaborative team.

About the Role

We are seeking a Junior Accountant & Administrative Associate who will work closely with senior management in a high-paced operational environment. This role blends accounting, financial administration, and operational support and is ideal for someone who enjoys understanding how a business actually runs day-to-day.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting graduate who wants real operational accounting experience rather than a narrow audit or tax track. Preference will be given to someone with 1-2 years experience in an operational environment vs. audit or tax preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with bank reconciliations
  • Post journal entries and maintain accurate accounting records
  • Support preparation and review of financial statements
  • Work with internal teams to ensure accurate accounts payable and receivable processing
  • Assist with monthly closing processes
  • Help identify and correct discrepancies in financial reports
  • Provide administrative and operational support to accounting and management staff
  • Coordinate documentation and financial records across multiple managed properties

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
  • Strong understanding of financial statements
  • Comfortable discussing debits, credits, and double-entry bookkeeping
  • Ability to post journal entries and assist with reconciliations
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Excel and basic accounting systems

Compensation

$65,000 – $75,000 annually, depending on experience and accounting competency
