Northrop Grumman is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Intern to join the Space Systems Sector. This position will be located in Dulles, VA.

Roles and Responsibilities

As an intern, you’ll participate in an internship program to develop competencies in a variety of engineering specializations that may include:

  • Developing requirements, design, integration, development or testing of space payloads, spacecraft buses, satellites, human-rated spacecraft, and satellite servicing vehicles.
  • Generating and flowing down customer requirements to hardware and software designers.
  • Developing innovative system architectures.
  • Implementing advanced algorithms involving sophisticated signal processing and data processing techniques.
  • Integrating and testing finished hardware and software products.
  • Harness interface design.
  • Mechanical systems support.
  • Command & Telemetry database development.
  • Space vehicle configuration modeling.
  • Performing advanced modeling & analyses relating to mission and technical problems in support of development or mission operations teams.
  • Assisting in new business activities, such as conceptual design and analysis for proposals and funded studies, and may include authoring sections for both.

Candidates must be knowledgeable in aerospace systems, spacecraft subsystems design, or mission operations.

Basic Qualifications

A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria:

  • Be enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university AND graduating after August 2026.
  • Be majoring in a computer science, software engineering, computer engineering or related field.
  • Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks of the Summer 2026.
  • Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).

Intern Pay Range In Dulles, VA

At Northrop Grumman, our internship pay rates are standardized and take into account three main factors: the anticipated graduation date of the individual, the cost of labor of the geographic location, and whether the internship is considered technical or administrative.

  • Bachelor’s: $25.75 to $31.75 per hour
  • Master’s: $37.25 to $39.00 per hour
