Network & Facilities Technician (Entry Level)

ASSYST is actively seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Network & Facilities Technician (Entry Level) to join our team in Sterling, VA. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to gain hands-on technical experience and contribute to the smooth operation of our office environment. The successful candidate will provide essential technical support and ensure the day-to-day efficiency of our facilities.

Location: Sterling, VA (Onsite)

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive day-to-day user support for a variety of IT equipment, including desktops, laptops, and peripherals. This involves setup, deployment, and crucial troubleshooting to ensure user productivity.
  • Manage and maintain Linux-based systems, ensuring their stability and performance. Assist with fundamental networking tasks, supporting the overall network infrastructure.
  • Support routine infrastructure operations, including critical tasks such as data backups, efficient printer/copier management, and proactive system monitoring to identify and address potential issues.
  • Track, manage, and meticulously reconcile both IT and facility inventory (e.g., hardware, peripherals, office supplies) to guarantee availability and maintain accurate records.
  • Document internal procedures thoroughly, contributing to a robust knowledge base and ensuring strict compliance with organizational standards and best practices.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all facility-related issues, expertly coordinating with external vendors or building management as necessary to resolve problems efficiently.
  • Proactively assist with maintaining a safe, functional, and comfortable office environment by addressing minor facility needs promptly and escalating larger, more complex issues to the appropriate channels.
  • Collaborate effectively with technical leads and management to ensure seamless operations across both IT and facility domains, fostering a cohesive and productive work environment.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience working with Linux operating systems, showcasing foundational command-line proficiency and system understanding.
  • A strong understanding of fundamental networking concepts and practical skills in network troubleshooting (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, basic routing).
  • Hands-on experience with various computer hardware and peripherals, including assembly, diagnosis, and replacement.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a genuine eagerness to learn and grow under direct mentorship.
  • The ability to effectively balance and manage both technical support responsibilities and essential facility-related duties.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required, along with the ability to successfully obtain a Security Clearance.
