C or C++ Junior Developer | Amentum

The Tone:
This is an early career role at Amentum, located in Dahlgren, VA, where the company has supported the customer for over 50 years. Amentum focuses on software development and integration for critical Naval projects, contributing to modernizing the Navy and ensuring mission success. As an integral part of the systems and software engineering team, this role involves applying diverse skillsets to complex Digital Engineering challenges for the latest DoD weapons and sensor systems. Successful candidates will thrive in a collaborative atmosphere and effectively interact with both customers and engineering personnel.

• Pay: $80000–$110000 yearly
• Team: Part of the systems and software engineering team, collaborating with a Senior Amentum developer
• Mission: Develop and integrate C/C++ software for critical Naval projects, specifically the Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) weapon system.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Software Development: Develop C++ and/or C software specifically for the Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) weapon system, supporting critical Naval projects and programs.
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with and support a Senior Amentum developer, ensuring adherence to established Agile development principles.
• Problem Solving: Apply strong analytical and problem-solving techniques to professional scientific and engineering work, contributing to effective solutions.
• Independent & Team Work: Work effectively both independently and collaboratively within established teams and across organizations to achieve defined project goals.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or another applicable technical field. Equivalent experience may be considered. Requires US Citizenship.
• Experience: 0-5 years of relevant professional experience. Must possess an Active SECRET US Government Clearance. Requires a valid Real ID driver’s license and reliable transportation for occasional local travel between worksites.
• Skills: Proficiency in C++ or C programming languages. Familiarity with Agile Development methodologies. Demonstrated effective communication skills.
• Bonus: Familiarity with QT or Motif.
