Junior Technical Instructor

Our client is seeking a passionate and technically skilled Junior Technical Instructor to join their team. This pivotal role is dedicated to inspiring and developing the next generation of watchmaking professionals, both within the company and among their national retailer network. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise in watchmaking with a genuine enthusiasm for teaching, curriculum development, and mentoring. You will be instrumental in conducting high-quality internal and external training, developing engaging educational content, and contributing to various special projects that advance our educational initiatives. Frequent travel may be an essential part of this dynamic role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Comprehensive Training: Lead engaging classroom and hands-on bench training sessions for a diverse audience, including new and existing employees, as well as retailer staff, ensuring practical skill development.
  • Deliver Engaging Lessons: Design and deliver clear, concise, and highly engaging lessons that consistently align with the company’s established curriculum, brand standards, and core cultural values.
  • Ensure Training Consistency: Maintain and uphold the consistency, integrity, and high quality of all training materials, methodologies, and delivery across all training locations and programs.
  • Curriculum Contribution & Environment Fostering: Actively support the ongoing development, evolution, and enhancement of learning programs, while consistently fostering a respectful, inclusive, and highly productive learning environment for all participants.
  • Monitor & Communicate Progress: Regularly assess and track learner progress, providing timely and constructive feedback to participants, and communicating performance updates effectively to relevant managers and HR.
  • Embrace Educational Innovation: Stay abreast of and proactively leverage the latest tools, technologies, and pedagogical methods in technical education to continuously enhance the learning experience.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Expert Watchmaking Proficiency: Deep understanding and practical expertise in core watchmaking principles, techniques, and intricate mechanisms, including but not limited to assembly, disassembly, repair, regulation, and various complications.
  • Pedagogical Acumen: Foundational knowledge of adult learning theory, effective curriculum development strategies, and robust assessment methodologies to design and evaluate impactful training programs.
  • Exceptional Communication & Coaching: Superior verbal, written, and active listening skills, coupled with strong coaching and interpersonal abilities to effectively motivate, guide, and connect with diverse learners.
  • Technical & Safety Competence: Proficiency with relevant computer applications (e.g., presentation software, LMS platforms) and a thorough understanding of essential workshop safety protocols, including strict adherence to OSHA compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Academic Background: A college degree is required; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Accredited Watchmaking Credential: A degree or certification from an accredited watchmaking school, demonstrating foundational technical expertise in the field (no prior training experience is required for this role).
  • Relevant Industry Experience: At least 3 years of hands-on, relevant experience within the watchmaking industry.
