Overview: Transportation Engineering Intern (Fall 2026)

Are you seeking an exciting opportunity to launch or grow your career? Woolpert is looking for you! Join us for a full-time internship experience that offers real-world project involvement within a supportive environment, alongside ample opportunities for professional and personal growth.

• Position: Transportation Engineering Intern
• Term: Fall 2026 (August – December 2026)
• Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week
• Location: Ohio (Dayton, Columbus, Cincinnati, and Cleveland offices) – requiring at least 2 days/week in-office.
• Relocation: Interns must be located near one of the Ohio offices or be willing to relocate at their own expense.
• Visa Sponsorship: We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must already possess work authorization in the country the job is located.

The Transportation Engineering Intern will work alongside Woolpert’s infrastructure teams on a variety of projects across the Transportation spectrum. This includes projects in traffic, roadway and pedestrian facilities, bridges and structures, and transportation planning. Work will span several disciplines, serving diverse clients and project types, all directly impacting the communities where we live and work.

What You Will Do: Key Responsibilities and Learning Opportunities

As a Transportation Engineering Intern, you will be an integral part of our industry-leading Transportation team, gaining invaluable real-world experience.

• Work as part of the industry leading Transportation team.
• Gain real-world experience working on actual projects alongside Licensed Engineers who are experts in their fields.
• Assist on a variety of projects, performing tasks such as analysis, design, plan production, and cost estimation.
• Utilize industry-leading applications like Civil 3D and OpenRoads Designer, in addition to discipline-specific programs that aid in design.
• Collaborate as a member of a team that coordinates with other internal teams, external subconsultants, and clients.
• Perform tasks and solve problems with a high degree of independence.

• Be enrolled as a student at an accredited college or university, preferably with at least sophomore status.
• Pursuing a Civil Engineering degree or a civil adjacent degree.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to function well in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
• Exceptional multitasking and time management skills.
• Be ready and open to learning!

Compensation

The base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

• Pay Range: $22 – $26 USD per hour
