Project Engineer Intern – National Mission Critical Team (Data Center)

Ryan Companies is offering an exciting internship/co-op opportunity to join our National Mission Critical Team as a Project Engineer Intern. This role will support a significant Data Center project in the Lubbock, TX area.

Program Details:

  • Location: Lubbock, TX area
  • Project Focus: Data Center construction
  • Availability:
    • Summer Internship: May – August 2026
    • Spring Co-op: January – August 2026
    • Fall Co-op: May – December 2026

Key Learning Experiences and Responsibilities:

As a Project Engineer Intern, you will gain hands-on experience and develop a comprehensive understanding of various aspects of construction project management, including:

  • Developing a working understanding of budgets, cost accounting, invoices, contracts, and change orders.
  • Acquiring a first-hand understanding of job-site coordination, scheduling, quality control, and safety protocols.

Qualifications for Success:

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in construction engineering/management or a closely related field.
  • Within 18 months of graduating from their degree program.
  • Ability to commit to working 40 hours per week for a minimum term of three months.

Candidates who possess the following skills will be highly regarded:

  • General knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control methods.
  • Proficiency in performing mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to effectively read and understand contracts, specifications, and architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Compensation:

  • Hourly Base Pay Range: $20 – $25 per hour.
  • The exact base rate may vary based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • This position may be eligible for additional compensation that could include commission and/or incentive programs.
