Universal Destinations & Experiences Internship Program: GIS & Geospatial Technologies Intern

JOB SUMMARY:

The selected intern will immerse themselves in the fields of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geospatial Technologies, and critical thinking relevant to asset management. This pivotal position offers direct support for the deployment, organization, and coordination of a GIS at Universal Orlando Resort. Beyond GIS, the intern will be required to proficiently utilize electronic spreadsheet programs for data manipulation, creating authoritative data sets crucial for operations. This unique opportunity fosters skill development within a dynamic, collaborative environment alongside other driven professionals.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborates with team members to identify, seek out, and actively promote geospatial asset management initiatives.
  • Collects vital utility field asset data using advanced GPS devices, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Organizes collected utility asset data efficiently for seamless incorporation into the ArcGIS system.
  • Assists in the development of ArcGIS Applications designed to analyze and interpret utility asset information.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by rigorously following established Universal Orlando policy, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the team and projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently in pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor, or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution.
  • Must have a current class standing of Sophomore or above.
  • A minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA is required.
  • A transcript is required upon application.
  • Preferred majors include: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Urban Planning, Computer Science, Management of Information Systems, Geographic Information Systems, Geosciences, Environmental Sciences, or similar fields.

PREFERRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Familiarity with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and/or other ESRI products.
  • Exposure to AutoCAD or similar drafting platforms.
  • Basic understanding of Python or other relevant coding languages.
  • Exposure to Power BI, MS Excel, MS Project, MS Planner, Power Automate.
  • Familiarity with GPS technology for efficient field data collection.

Important Information:

  • This internship will be an in-person experience, based in our Orlando offices.
  • Interns must be currently pursuing a degree at an accredited university and must have a graduation date later than December 2026.
  • Universal Orlando does not provide housing. Interns are responsible for their own housing and transportation.
  • All of our internships are paid, and you may also qualify for housing financial assistance if applicable. The Recruiter will provide specific eligibility details.
