Technical Program Management Intern – Alexandria, VA
We are seeking a highly motivated Technical Program Management Intern to join our team in Alexandria, VA. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to premier US Air Force programs, specifically involving Deployable Systems (DS), at MTSI’s headquarters. The intern will also have the chance to visit the client site at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB) as requested.
Key Responsibilities:
The intern will independently execute a range of duties, including but not limited to:
- Assisting the Government with project management, acquisition support, and technical oversight for customer development efforts.
- Collaborating closely with Government program managers, lead project engineers, contracts, finance, and program teams.
- Maintaining awareness of daily operational issues and preparing for significant project events.
- Supporting the full spectrum of contract award and modification actions for other contractors, including pre-award documentation, source selection assistance, and post-award support activities.
- Reviewing contract deliverables, integrated schedules, technical status reports, and cost performance reports to gain programmatic understanding.
- Assisting in the creation and approval of acquisition strategies, program planning, early capability development strategies, project planning, and the transition of program execution to the relevant Program Executive Officer.
- Contributing to the development and communication of roadmaps for programs, associated technologies, and product lines.
- Aiding in the development of integration plans and procedures and organizing resources to facilitate program transition activities.
- Assisting with milestone planning, tracking, scheduling, briefing preparations, staff coordination, and decision documentation preparation.
- Providing technical support to the entire project team and delivering status updates to Government leadership.
In this role, you will leverage exceptional communication and influencing skills within a dynamic team by:
- Demonstrating knowledge of program management processes and their application to both military and commercial systems.
- Crafting relevant documents and presentations for diverse stakeholders.
- Proactively taking initiative on relevant tasks for assigned programs.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior in collegiate academic studies.
- Pursuing a degree in Engineering or Management.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 suite of tools.
- A self-starter who thrives in dynamic environments, capable of accomplishing high-level tasks independently, skilled in problem definition, and able to collaborate effectively within a team.
- Basic working knowledge of engineering tools such as MS Project would be beneficial.
- Ability to learn new tools and some experience with collaboration tools like Confluence and/or Jira would be helpful.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to clearly translate client technical needs and assimilate project information.
- Comfortable supporting multiple concurrent projects in a dynamic environment.
- Possession of a US Secret clearance (preferred) or the ability to apply for a clearance with MTSI assistance.
- Demonstrated interest in leveraging university capabilities to support current and future work.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently with guidance from experienced team members.
Clearance Requirements:
- Ability to obtain/maintain a government security clearance.
