  • Interest: A strong interest in fire protection and life safety systems, building science, problem-solving, and fieldwork.
  • Travel Readiness: Willingness to travel, typically alternating between one week in the field and one week in the office. Occasional two-week travel for larger projects may be required.
  • Physical Capability: Physical ability to climb ladders and fit into smaller spaces as needed for inspections.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with contractors and clients.

Essential Skills

While prior experience is not required, the ideal candidate will demonstrate aptitude or foundational knowledge in:

  • Construction design and planning.
  • Fire protection design and life safety concepts.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and plans.
  • Foundational understanding or interest in Fire Protection and Life Safety System Inspection.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Rare Entry-Level Access: This is a unique chance to break into the life safety & fire protection industry without prior inspection experience. The team actively prefers to train you from the ground up.
  • Reputable Firm: Join a top-performing, highly respected firm in a niche and stable industry, specializing in healthcare facilities across Indiana and Ohio.
  • Meaningful Work: Engage in high-impact projects that directly support safety and compliance within major hospital systems, making a tangible difference.
  • Clear Career Growth: Benefit from a structured career path with potential to advance from existing-building assessments into new construction, design review, and high-profile projects, including multi-billion-dollar hospital builds.
  • Structured Travel: Enjoy a predictable travel schedule (typically one week in the field, one week in-office) with all travel expenses fully covered and minimal weekend requirements.
  • Supportive Team Environment: Work in two-person teams, ensuring accuracy, continuous mentorship, and ongoing learning alongside highly knowledgeable staff.
  • Balanced Work Environment: Experience a relaxed, quiet, and supportive office environment on the west side of Indianapolis, perfectly balanced with hands-on fieldwork for variety.
