Summary

Brain Injury Community Center Interns are vital members of a team responsible for providing high quality services to individuals with traumatic brain injuries.

Schedule: 1-5 Days Per Week. The Community Center will operate Monday through Friday with some evening and weekend hours as needed. Hours per week will vary based on client’s rotation of community center hours or other department needs.

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for running each class selected by individuals, ensuring operational hours are consistently met each week.
  • Responsible for producing accurate, legible, and timely documentation for Individuals, maintaining comprehensive records of services and progress.
  • Responsible for contributing creative ideas for program design and activities that are appropriate and engaging for the individuals, collaborating with the program manager.
  • Work directly with individuals on achieving their personal goals through focused activities in wellness, stress management, nutrition, and community recreation.
  • Responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of Individuals served, proactively seeking assistance and medical interventions as appropriate.
  • Assists Individuals in attaining their personal goals and provides individualized support when necessary, tailoring interventions to specific needs.
  • Act as a dedicated advocate for the client to ensure that their opinions and preferences are heard and respected regarding services provided.
  • Provides constructive input into the development and execution of engaging program activities and outings.
  • Help the program manager to organize and facilitate social functions both within the center and in the broader community, fostering connection and engagement.
  • Ensures that all information regarding Individuals is maintained with the highest level of confidentiality, strictly adhering to policies and procedures concerning protected health information.
  • Attend and actively participate in mandatory staff meetings and trainings, as well as regular supervision meetings, for continuous professional development.
  • Support the learning and growth of Individuals by utilizing motivational techniques, effective interventions, and various communication approaches, including both verbal and written communication.
