Job Description

Job Title: FACULTY DIVERSITY INTERNSHIP PROGRAM – PSYCHOLOGY

Key Dates:

  • FIRST REVIEW: FEBRUARY 15, 2026
  • INTERNSHIP BEGINS: JUNE 1, 2026
  • INTERNSHIP DURATION: Year-long (26-27 academic year)

Compensation:

  • Fall Semester (2026): A stipend of $1000 paid at the end of the semester.
  • Spring Semester (2027): Paid $38.53 per hour for up to 7 hours of work per week.

Program Overview:

The College of the Siskiyous is offering a year-long, remote Faculty Intern position in Psychology through its Faculty Diversity Internship Program. This program is designed to:

  • Provide aspiring community college faculty members with the essential skills and knowledge required for excellence in online teaching.
  • Increase the diversity of the Siskiyous faculty.
  • Enrich and improve students’ educational experiences.

Internship Structure and Activities (Academic Year 2026-2027):

  • Mentorship: Regular meetings (approximately every 2 weeks) with a dedicated Faculty Mentor from the Siskiyous social science department.
  • Summer and Fall 2026: Completion of approximately 80 hours of online teaching training.
  • Spring 2027:
    • Hands-on experience assisting with the mentor’s online class. This may involve:
      • Developing assignments or online learning units.
      • Participating in class discussions.
      • Organizing and attending student study groups or tutoring sessions.
      • Grading.
    • Attendance at 1-2 workshops.
    • Completion and presentation of an online teaching portfolio.
  • Format: All program requirements can be fulfilled remotely.

Eligibility Requirements:

Candidates must:

  • Possess an equity-minded focus, demonstrating responsiveness, sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
  • Be able to describe how their participation will increase the diversity of the Siskiyous faculty and enrich students’ experiences.
  • Meet one of the following educational criteria:
    • Have recently obtained OR be an enrolled graduate student who has completed at least 50% of a Master’s or Doctoral degree in Psychology.
    • OR Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology AND have completed at least 50% of a Master’s or Doctoral degree in counseling, sociology, statistics, neuroscience, or social work.
