What’s the Opportunity?
Anchor QEA is seeking a dedicated and proactive Legal Intern to join its Legal team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a corporate in-house legal department within the environmental science and engineering consulting industry. The Legal Intern will play a crucial role in helping Anchor QEA achieve its strategic goals, manage legal risk, and uphold the organization’s legal and ethical integrity by providing comprehensive legal advice to foster sound decision-making. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this role promises exposure to a diverse range of corporate in-house legal matters, departments, and projects across various practice areas.
Responsibilities:
The Legal Intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks that contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the Legal team, including:
- Assist in maintaining and organizing a centralized database of legal documents within Ironclad, ensuring accurate record-keeping, version control, and easy access for relevant team members.
- Assist with drafting and negotiating a variety of legal documents, including agreements, filings, corporate consents, employment contracts, policy materials, and other essential documents, while collaborating with internal stakeholders and external parties.
- Conduct legal research on diverse company matters, including contract law, employment issues, compliance requirements, and industry-specific regulations.
- Collaborate across multiple departments (e.g., HR, Finance, Operations) to efficiently manage legal tasks and projects.
What Are We Looking For?
Ideal Candidates Will Have The Following:
- Candidate must be a rising 3L or 2L pursuing a J.D. at an ABA-accredited law school.
- Candidate must have completed the required law school courses in Contracts and Business Organizations, or equivalent law school coursework.
- Candidates must be available to participate in the internship during both the summer and fall semesters.
Previous Experience In The Following Areas:
- Working with confidential documents and under confidentiality obligations, demonstrating an ability to protect company and client confidentiality.
- Strong skills in contract formation, preparation, negotiation, review, and drafting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience or interest in contract law, the environmental engineering industry, or previous experience in a corporate legal department.
- Passion for tackling issues of first impression and/or foundational legal issues.
- Talent for thinking outside of the box in researching legal issues.
- Able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Interest and willingness to embrace new technologies to help further operationalize team processes.
