Responsibilities & Qualifications

Novelis in Guthrie, KY, is offering an exciting opportunity to participate in our Summer 2026 Mechanical Engineering Internship. This role is designed for a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team for approximately 12 weeks, gaining relevant work experience and hands-on industry exposure. The intern will report directly to the Engineering Leader and will collaborate closely with our local engineering team.

Responsibilities:
Learn about industrial machinery, mechanical power transmission systems, and pumping systems.
• Provide support for various Mechanical or Reliability Engineering Projects.
• Perform Engineering drawing modifications.
Troubleshoot a variety of industrial manufacturing equipment, including aluminum rolling lines, mobile equipment, and furnaces.
• Work under the supervision of staff engineers to implement the latest reliability and maintenance standards to equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in an accredited 4-year University.
• Must be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or recent Graduate.
Interested in gaining hands-on industry experience prior to graduation.
• Possess effective interpersonal and communication skills, essential for interacting with all levels of the organization.
• Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Prefer students majoring in Mechanical Engineering or related fields.
Familiar with MS Office and AutoCAD products.
Familiarity with precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.

Location Profile

The Novelis Guthrie facility is situated in Guthrie, Kentucky, approximately 30 minutes from the Tennessee state line, near Clarksville, Tennessee, and Hopkinsville, Kentucky. As Novelis’ newest facility, Guthrie will host a heat treatment and pretreatment line dedicated to serving the North American automotive market, employing 125 residents. Beyond professional life, residents can enjoy hunting, fishing, and hiking, as well as the Guthrie Transportation Museum, a central point for the city’s renewal efforts. The Guthrie team actively fosters partnerships with Hopkinsville Community College, Todd County High School, Guthrie Fire Department, and various local Rotary Clubs.
