Job Title: Landscape Architecture + Planning Co-op / Intern

Location: Philadelphia, PA

Job Summary:
Langan is seeking a motivated Landscape Architecture + Planning Co-op or Intern to join its collaborative team in Philadelphia, PA. This role is pivotal in providing comprehensive planning, design, and permitting assistance for a wide array of Landscape Architecture and Planning projects. The selected individual will have the unique opportunity to partner cross-functionally and gain invaluable industry experience by working on a diverse portfolio of projects. This may include, but is not limited to: urban revitalization and streetscape design, retail and commercial developments, school and university campus planning, healthcare facilities, smart growth planning initiatives, community design, rooftop and courtyard projects, and brownfield redevelopment assignments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Documentation Assistance: Assist the Landscape Architecture team with the planning, design, and permitting of landscape architecture, civil engineering, land development, and infrastructure projects. This involves utilizing various design, engineering, and graphic software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Sketch Up, Photoshop, Illustrator) and equipment to prepare high-quality landscape architecture and design documents.
  • Regulatory Analysis: Support with zoning, ordinance, and permit assessments. Assist in determining project feasibility by analyzing collected data and regulatory requirements.
  • Document Preparation: Aid in the preparation and modification of various design and engineering documents, including reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates, and design plans for diverse projects.
  • Site Assessment: Assess crucial site characteristics such as soil composition, terrain, hydrological features, and topographical and geologic data. Analyze their potential impact on project planning and design, utilizing reports, maps, drawings, design and engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional duties as requested to support project needs and team objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Currently working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture.
  • Experience: Prior related internship experience is desired.
  • Academic Standing: A GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Highly creative with exceptional computer skills in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Sketchup, AutoCAD, Rhino, and Excel.
  • Communication & Organization: Demonstrated strong interpersonal, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Travel: The ability to occasionally travel to other regional Langan offices.
