Job Title: Experiential Therapist Intern

Summary:

The Experiential Therapist Intern plays a pivotal role in the development, planning, implementation, facilitation, direction, and evaluation of experiential therapy programming across all specialized treatment areas. This position requires a strong working knowledge of the psychosocial functioning of patient/resident groups, alongside a skilled application of expressive activities within a psychiatric setting. These therapeutic activities are diverse and include, but are not limited to, adventure-based and environmental activities, sports, dance, group initiatives, arts/crafts, music, outdoor activities, various art media, psychodrama, horticulture, and ropes and challenge course.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, plan, and coordinate engaging and therapeutic experiential programming.
  • Ensure all documentation and treatment records are accurately completed in accordance with Rogers’ policies.
  • Establish and maintain a strong therapeutic rapport with patient/resident groups, while consistently upholding appropriate professional boundaries.
  • In alignment with your university’s program description and in partnership with your academic institution, this internship may also encompass duties related to cognitive behavioral therapies and social services. The specific details of this multifaceted experience will be collaboratively developed by Rogers and your university.

Education & Training Requirements:

  • Education: Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor of Science (BS) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree program. Preferred fields of study include art, music, dance, recreation, or other therapy-related disciplines.
  • Onboarding: Successful completion of all mandatory Rogers onboarding training coursework is required prior to your internship start date.
  • Aggressive Patient Management: Formal training in the management of aggressive patients (NCI – Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) is required within sixty (60) days of placement. Annual re-certification for NCI is mandatory and will be provided.
  • Background Checks: Successful completion of pre-placement background checks through the Rogers system is a prerequisite.
  • Health Clearance: Successful occupational health clearance from your healthcare provider is required.
