Department & Division:
This internship opportunity is within the Community Development Department, specifically in the Building & Inspection Services Division.

About the Internship:
The Village of Mount Prospect is seeking to hire a total of two (2) Building & Inspection Services Interns. These positions offer a valuable opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in municipal operations related to community development. Interns will have the unique chance to work collaboratively with both the Building Inspections team and the Code Enforcement/Health Inspections team, providing a comprehensive understanding of the division’s functions.

Key Responsibilities:
Interns will assist the department with a diverse range of daily administrative and field-based tasks, including but not limited to:
• Preparation of various applications.
• Support for code enforcement activities.
• Assistance with other responsibilities essential for day-to-day operations within the division.

Requirements:
• Applicants must be currently enrolled in a college, university, technical school, or other accredited continuing education program.
• The program of study must be applicable to building construction trades, environmental health, or a related field.

Compensation:
• Salary: $18.00 – $21.00 per hour, Depending on Qualifications (DOQ).

Work Schedule & Duration:
• Work Hours: A minimum of 30 hours per week is required during the internship period.
• Duration: The internship is approximately 10-12 weeks in length.
