Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Overview

Kerry is deeply committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace. This internship position, focusing on Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), reports directly to the HSE Manager and involves carrying out responsibilities in accordance with Kerry’s organizational policies and applicable laws.

As an HSE Specialist Intern, you will be fundamental to our team, coordinating the implementation of Kerry’s HSE Safety policies and HSE plans, and ensuring the company remains compliant with all relevant legislation and requirements. This role will be based at our Jackson, WI plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and support the HSE Management System, providing advice and assistance to the HSE manager to effectively reduce site HSE risk.
  • Support, implement, and/or maintain specific North American HSE programs and projects.
  • Develop and implement safety initiatives aimed at continually improving overall safety performance and achieving objectives.
  • Support the assigned site’s environmental/sustainability efforts, contributing to both achieving Zero Waste to Landfill and ISO 14001 certification.
  • Provide assistance to the site with HSE policy development, HSE inspections & audits, fostering employee engagement at all levels, delivering HSE training, and leading HSE incident investigations.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university in a health, safety, or environment-related field.
  • Anticipated graduation date between December 2026 – May 2027.
  • Knowledgeable about food chemistry, sensory, microbiology, food packaging, systems, and food engineering.
  • Applicable food processing technology knowledge and statistical process knowledge.
  • Legal Authorization to work in the U.S. – Sponsorships will not be provided for early career roles now or in the future.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • All candidates must be geographically flexible and willing to relocate for this internship opportunity.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage different projects effectively.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability.
  • Strong technical skills.

Compensation Data

The starting wage for this internship is $20.00 an hour. Actual offers may vary depending on several factors including, but not limited to, education, work experience, certifications, and location. We are accepting applications on a continuous basis until the 2026 cohort is full. The estimated application expiration date is April 1, 2026.
