Cloud Cybersecurity Intern

Leidos is thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a Cloud Cybersecurity Intern to join our outstanding MDEC Cloud team. Our team operates at the cutting edge of developing and implementing robust multi-cloud solutions, embracing a cloud-agnostic approach to deliver exceptional value and tackle complex challenges for our end users.

As a Cloud Cybersecurity Intern, you will be expected to demonstrate a solid understanding of fundamental networking and security concepts, including TCP/IP, common networking ports and protocols, system administration, and core security principles. A key part of your role will involve performing basic-level cyber analysis of potential events that could pose risks to Leidos assets.

You will play an integral part in a collaborative environment, working closely with cloud engineers, architects, and other IT professionals to execute tasks assigned by your manager. Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a motivated self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of creating detailed technical reports on analytic findings.
  • Review DoD intelligence to proactively identify potential threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Conduct basic cloud-level cyber analysis of potential security events and incidents.
  • Perform comprehensive vulnerability, risk, and threat analysis to assess system weaknesses.
  • Execute various other cloud-related duties as assigned, supporting the team’s broader objectives.
  • Track and manage Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) checklists across diverse operating systems and applications.
  • Assist in the implementation of STIG configurations to harden systems.
  • Manage Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) vulnerability reports and perform necessary remediation actions.
  • Ensure continuous compliance with periodic Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) and STIG requirements to enhance server security.
  • Conduct ongoing vulnerability, risk, and threat assessments to maintain a robust security posture.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in a degree program from an accredited college/university in a related field of study.
  • Familiarity with Linux, Unix, and Windows operating systems.
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of web application security principles.
  • Understanding of various cybersecurity frameworks and risk management methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of corrective action management and auditing principles.
  • Demonstrates a personal commitment to safety and quality.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, common networking ports and protocols, system administration, and common security elements.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) directives and policies and procedures pertaining to sensitive information.
