About the Role

Trystar is in search of a talented and motivated Intern to join our ETO (Engineer-to-Order) team at our Charlotte, NC facility. The ETO Engineering Intern will play a crucial role in supporting our team by assisting with drafting, design, engineering tasks, and project execution for custom electrical products such as switchboards and switchpanels.

This hands-on internship provides invaluable exposure to engineering processes, foundational electrical product knowledge, drafting principles, and Trystar’s customer-focused design and production workflows. Interns will have the unique opportunity to collaborate closely with experienced engineers, actively participate in significant project work, and gain valuable experience across production, engineering, and design environments.

Key Responsibilities & What You’ll Get To Do

In this dynamic role, you will get to:

  • Provide essential design and drafting support using industry-standard software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Assist with critical engineering tasks, contributing to ETO pillars like schedule adherence, submittals, and quality assurance.
  • Contribute significantly to the design and development of customer-focused electrical products.
  • Complete assigned engineering projects from the initial concept phase through to successful execution.
  • Actively participate in production, engineering, and product design activities to gain broad cross-functional exposure.
  • Learn and apply Trystar’s established engineering processes and ETO workflows.
  • Communicate progress regularly and effectively through milestone reporting, weekly 1:1s, and bi-weekly team meetings.
  • Support project development, execution, and final presentation throughout the internship timeline (June–August).

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who possess the following:

  • Demonstrated experience or relevant coursework in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • A keen interest in electrical products, switchboards, and switchpanel systems.
  • An understanding of drafting principles and exposure to GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) is beneficial.
  • A curious mindset and a strong willingness to learn engineering and electrical product processes.
  • An innovative, creative approach to solving problems and contributing to product improvement.
  • Strong organizational skills, effective communication abilities, and a talent for collaboration in team meetings and mentoring sessions.
