Job Title: System Safety Engineer

Key Responsibilities / Job Duties:

  • Analysis and recommendation of safety criteria in system design.
  • Hazard analysis and development of procedures to control or eliminate hazards.
  • Software safety assessments.
  • Hazardous material management planning and execution.
  • Development of safety documentation.
  • Support to operational testing and test range requirements.
  • Participation in design reviews, customer briefings, and system safety review boards.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering discipline such as electrical, mechanical, or a related discipline.

Desired Skills:

  • Experienced with Microsoft Office (POWERPOINT, ACCESS, WORD, EXCEL).
  • Self-starter capable of performing assigned tasks with minimal oversight.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Work Arrangement: This position offers a Part-time Remote Telework option. The selected employee will work part of their schedule remotely and part at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedule Flexibility: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five-day work week, while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time Off benefits.

The salary information provided is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

  • National Pay Rate (Non-Major Metro Areas):
    • For positions in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington, or Washington D.C., the annual base salary range is $31,616 – $77,788.
    • For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location.
  • Premium Pay Rate (Major Metropolitan Areas):
    • For positions in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York, the annual base salary range is $36,504 – $77,788.
    • For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location.

Washington State Specific Benefits (Full-time employees):

  • Non-represented employees: Accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays.
  • Represented employees: Accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays.
  • PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on the start date during the calendar year.
