Summer Internship Program Details

  • Program Dates: May 2026 through August 2026.
  • Collaboration: Interns will collaborate across our interdisciplinary, North American Buildings practice.
  • Candidate Profile: We are seeking passionate interns who possess excellent design, modeling, organizational, and communication skills, which will enable them to interact within a multidisciplinary team of architectural/engineering/interior design professionals. Successful Interns will possess the creativity, curiosity, motivation, and skills necessary to create conceptual models and advance design ideas with a team.
  • Program Elements: Our Summer Internship Program includes the following to support industry exposure, leadership interaction, and work experience in support of licensure hours:
    • Internship Program Kick-off Day
    • Project site visits
    • Cross-office Internship Project
    • Educational lunch & learns/seminars
    • Participation in design presentation and dialogues.

Your Key Responsibilities

As an Interior Design Intern, you will be a passionate, hard-working designer helping with:

  • The design process.
  • 3D development.
  • Selecting and ordering finishes.
  • Assisting in organizing and preparing for meetings.
  • Incorporating designs into Revit.
  • Helping produce presentation materials.
  • Conducting basic interpretations of sketches, drawings, codes, program, and other similar material.
  • Supporting the project team in the development of interior design documentation and presentation materials.
  • Assisting in the development of a design through sketches, physical models, electronic models, diagrams, massing studies, and other visual formats to continue to project space planning, lighting, material selection, and furniture design.
  • Utilizing BIM technologies in the development of three-dimensional models of interiors and their components to develop construction documents.
  • Assisting in research of concept, benchmarks, materials, typology, and precedents.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Required:

  • Experience in Revit.
  • Please include work samples in your application in order to be considered for this position.

Preferred:

  • Experience in Sketch-Up, Rhino, Illustrator, Photoshop, PowerPoint, and InDesign.

Education and Experience

  • Working towards an Interior Design degree from a CIDA-accredited institution.
  • Must be in the 3rd or 4th year of an undergraduate degree or in a Master’s program.

Please note: We are looking for someone who is currently pursuing an Interior Design degree from an an accredited school. If you have already graduated, please check our website for other full-time positions that might be more suitable for you.

Work Environment

  • Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
  • Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Transparency

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

  • Temporary/Casual Employees have access to: 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
