Responsibilities to Anticipate/Expect

Interns will gain hands-on experience in the following areas:

1. Electrical/Electronic Engineering

  • Digital Circuit Design: Working with digital signal conditioning, encoders, counters, sinking I/O, sourcing I/O, impedance matching, A/D & D/A conversion, digital filters (IIR, LP, HP, BP, etc.), control logic, power management, and optical/galvanic isolation.
  • Analog Circuit Design: Engaging in analog signal conditioning, analog filter design (LP, HP, BP, etc.), understanding filter response, aliasing mitigation, and working with resolver, LVDT, and thermocouple circuits.
  • AC/DC Power: Designing and analyzing AC and DC power circuits, circuit protection (3VDC, 5VDC, 28VDC, 120VAC, 240VAC), and demonstrating knowledge of working with high voltage.
  • Signal Analysis: Performing frequency and duty cycle generation/measurement, Fast Fourier Frequency analysis, noise analysis, and understanding various filter types and their performance.

2. Cable/Harness Design

  • Cable Design Knowledge / Calculations: Applying knowledge of wire types, stranding, usage, insulation, frequency characteristics, sizing (current, voltage, power), thermal properties, propagation delays, physical strength, fill capacity, and weight.
  • Cable Signal Analysis Knowledge: Conducting signal analysis considering R/L/C effects, noise analysis (filtering), and understanding the impact of length on propagation delays (trunk lengths, stub lengths).

3. Electrical Drawings

  • Designing electrical single line diagrams.
  • Creating electrical layout drawings.
  • Developing electrical cable drawings.
  • Producing electrical schematics.

Required Tools Familiarity

Applicants should have familiarity with the following tools:

  • MATLAB/SIMULINK
  • EXCEL
  • VISIO

Qualifications

Required

  • Must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in either Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field from an accredited 4-year university or college. Other technical degrees will be considered with relevant experience.
  • General relevant computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must successfully pass standard pre-employment screens.
  • Must provide an official college or university transcript from their school before their first day of employment.
  • Must be able to complete a 3-month internship from May-August 2026.

Preferred

  • Attained Junior status based on university/college’s class standing requirements at the start of the internship.
  • A GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Additional Requirements & Considerations

  • This position may require eligibility to obtain a US security clearance. (Non-US Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance).
  • No sponsorship offered.
  • May need to meet ASR requirements to work in/on various vehicles, if needed.
