Our Mission and Values
The Atrium is dedicated to being a music venue for the people, with a particular focus on students. We pride ourselves on creating experiences that genuinely appeal to the college student community. As a vital center of entertainment in Bloomington, we are committed to promoting inclusivity and maintaining diversity in all aspects of our operations. We expect our interns and employees to uphold these core values as we continue to enrich the local music and arts scene.
Internship Opportunity
We are hiring up to eight interns for the fall 2020 semester. Upon acceptance, you will choose one of six specialized cognates, allowing you to gain practical, hands-on experience in a dynamic live music environment.
Cognates (Specializations)
After being accepted for this internship, you will choose between six specialized cognates:
- Sound Engineer: You will gain first-hand experience running all sound for live shows, learning directly from our preferred partners at Goedde Sound and Light.
- Lighting Engineering or Lighting Design: You will receive training on two distinct lighting rigs, both operating on Grand MA2 software. The initial 4 weeks will focus on learning the software, tempo control, and lighting progressions in “The Jungle,” after which you will expand your skills on the lighting rig in The Atrium for the remainder of the internship.
- Photography: This role involves learning to take high-quality photos in challenging concert/event lighting conditions, often with fast-paced crowd movement. Your primary goal will be to capture the “experience” and energy of the venue and the moment during every show. You will receive specific criteria for your shots each night, and approved content will be featured on all of Kilroy’s social channels and digital platforms.
- Videography: Each concert/event will present a different shooting task, requiring you to capture footage backstage, within the crowd, on the rail, and in the lighting booth. Your objective is to fully capture the “Experience” of the crowd. You will then be tasked with creating a compelling 30-second clip that encapsulates the night’s experience. Approved content will be featured on all of Kilroy’s social channels and digital platforms.
- Marketing Operations: This cognate offers exposure to social media marketing, print marketing, and experiential marketing. You will learn how to plan, execute, and measure the success of various marketing strategies.
- Digital Marketing: You will gain comprehensive exposure to a wide range of digital platforms. This includes, but is not limited to, social media channels, Eventbrite, Shopify, our website, SEO principles, and all other relevant digital music platforms.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age.
