Job Title: US Medical Content and Scientific Strategy Summer Intern

Overview:

Embark on an invaluable 12-week journey with our US Medical Affairs team as a Summer Intern in Medical Content and Scientific Strategy. This full-time program (40 hours per week) offers a comprehensive introduction to the multifaceted roles and responsibilities within a thriving Medical Affairs organization. As an intern, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the development and execution of critical scientific communication initiatives that underpin our engagement with the medical community and ultimately, patient care.

This internship is designed to provide broad, hands-on experience through active participation in live projects, integrated into key medical and operational initiatives. You will receive dedicated mentorship and training that directly supports Ascendis’ strategic goals, fostering both your professional and scientific development. The position reports directly to the Senior Manager of US Medical Content and Scientific Strategy, ensuring close guidance and learning opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Content Development Support: Collaborate closely with the US Medical Affairs Team and external vendors to assist in the creation and refinement of essential scientific materials. This includes scientific presentations for internal and external audiences, materials for key congress activities, comprehensive training resources for internal teams, and scientific field resources for medical science liaisons.
  • Project Coordination: Provide critical support in the meticulous management of project timelines, tracking key milestones, and ensuring the timely delivery of various scientific communications outputs.
  • Strategic Contribution: Actively participate in team meetings, contributing your insights and ideas during brainstorming sessions to help shape scientific communication strategies and tactics.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough research and analytical tasks for ongoing projects, gathering vital information to support evidence-based scientific communication and strategic decision-making.
  • Administrative Assistance: Offer general administrative support to the Medical Content and Scientific Strategy team as needed, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Ad-hoc Duties: Undertake other duties as assigned, providing flexibility and support across various Medical Affairs initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Academic Enrollment: Currently enrolled in a PharmD program and having successfully completed your P1 year, or on a graduate-level track (e.g., PhD) within the biomedical sciences.
  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency in all aspects of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Collaboration & Organization: Possess strong collaboration skills, capable of working effectively within a team, alongside excellent organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Communication Excellence: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, strong presentation abilities, and superior time management.
  • Attention to Detail: Highly detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and precision in all tasks.
  • Adaptability & Learning Agility: Eager and able to quickly learn and assimilate new scientific disciplines or complex concepts relevant to our therapeutic areas.

Compensation:

This internship offers a competitive hourly wage of $38/hr.

Internship Details & Benefits:

  • This is a dedicated summer internship position with a fixed duration of 12 weeks.
  • You will be engaged as an external W2 contractor, reporting to an Ascendis manager. Please note that no Ascendis employee benefits will be provided for this limited-duration contract.
