Orchard Place – Residential Campus Program

Orchard Place is seeking passionate and dedicated Summer Enrichment Interns to join our team. This part-time opportunity provides a unique chance to work directly with youth aged 10-17 in our residential Campus program, assisting our Recreational Therapist in facilitating engaging and therapeutic activities.

About the Role:

As a Summer Enrichment Intern, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing enrichment activities for youth receiving inpatient psychiatric treatment. This hands-on experience allows you to connect with young individuals, apply classroom theory in a real-world setting, and contribute to a safe and structured therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Facilitation: Assist the Recreational Therapist in facilitating a safe and structured enrichment program for youth ages 10 – 17.
  • Activity Development & Implementation: Participate actively in the planning, implementation, and supervision of age-appropriate activities and projects with the youth.
  • Youth Engagement: Connect with youth through meaningful program development and hands-on implementation.
  • Trauma-Informed Care: Integrate academic knowledge and classroom theory into practical, hands-on experience within a trauma-informed inpatient treatment environment.
  • Supervision: Provide supervision during activities to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.

Duration & Schedule:

  • Duration: End of May through July.
  • Hours: Part-time, approximately 12-4 pm daily.
  • Days: Monday – Thursday.

Compensation:

  • Pay Rate: $11.00 per hour.

Requirements:

  • Education: Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program with a human services related major.
  • Academic Standing: Priority given to students in their junior or senior academic year.
  • Experience (Preferred): Experience working with youth in areas of activities development and implementation.
  • Skills: Ability to problem-solve and work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
