Internship Overview:
- Position: Data Analyst Intern
- Internship Period: Summer 2026 (May 18 – early August)
- Location: Onsite/Hybrid in Columbus, Ohio

Health Analytics Division Focus:
This internship is within the Health Analytics Division, which specializes in developing advanced Information Technology and Data Management solutions for government and commercial clients. The primary focus of this role will be to define, architect, and build data pipelines and processes by collaborating with subject matter experts, software engineers, and epidemiologists.
Key Responsibilities:
- Solving technical problems using Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) approaches, particularly in areas requiring mathematical and/or statistical methods and knowledge.
- Regular communication with project leaders, team members, and client stakeholders, including mathematicians, computer scientists, statisticians, epidemiologists, and engineers.
- Proactively managing expectations and meeting deadlines within a fast-moving, agile software development environment.
- Conducting and participating in assigned projects with minimal supervision and within time and budget constraints.
- Thriving in a multi-disciplinary environment, solving problems across various application areas.
- Preparing and obtaining approval of system and programming documentation.
- Reviewing system requirements and business processes.
- Working both independently and as a member of a multi-functional, dynamic team.
- Supporting system testing as needed.
Key Qualifications (Required):
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in data engineering, data analytics, management information systems, mathematics, statistics, or an equivalent field.
- Sophomore standing or higher.
- Demonstrated experience or knowledge of data languages such as Python, SAS, R, Java, C, C++.
- Demonstrated experience or knowledge of relational database engines such as SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
- Ability to work effectively on multiple concurrent development projects.
- Applicants for this position must be a U.S. Person, as defined by U.S. export control laws.
Preferred Qualifications (Advantageous):
- Prior internship or research experience.
- Understanding of source code control.
- Understanding of software development methodologies.
- Understanding of patterns and coding best practices.
