Job Title: Management & Sales Internship
Program Overview:
The Sherwin-Williams Management & Sales Internship is a paid, 10-12-week summer program designed to provide interns with comprehensive, hands-on experience in our retail stores. This program offers invaluable insight into various aspects of our business, including management, sales, and store operations, along with fostering meaningful customer experiences. It focuses on practical business-to-business (B2B) and retail learning within a paint store environment.
Key Learning Experiences and Responsibilities:
- Gain comprehensive insight into outside sales by traveling alongside a Sales Representative.
- Spend structured time with your management team to understand leadership and operational strategies.
- Complete a significant project addressing critical business issues, collaborating with peers and receiving support from leadership.
- Engage directly with customers, which may include minors.
- Handle and manage cash and other payment methods, electronic equipment, personal information, store merchandise, and other items of value (access may be supervised or unsupervised).
- Professional-level learning will be provided in the following core areas:
- Sales
- Marketing/Promotions
- Merchandising
- Customer Relationship Management
- Business Management
Post-Internship Opportunity:
Upon successful completion of the internship, participants are highly encouraged to apply to the full-time Management & Sales Training Program (“MTP”) to continue their career growth with Sherwin-Williams.
Eligibility Note: College graduates are not eligible to participate in this internship program but are encouraged to apply directly to the Management & Sales Training Program (“MTP”).
Criminal History Review: Due to the nature of job duties involving customer contact (including minors) and access to valuable assets such as cash, payment methods, electronic equipment, personal information, and store merchandise, a review of criminal history is deemed necessary. This is to protect the business, its operations, reputation, and the safety of the Company’s customers, staff, employees, vendors, contractors, and the general public.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future.
- Must be enrolled in a college or university at the time of the internship or co-op program.
- Must be able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to retrieve material from shelves and floor stacks and lift and carry up to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 70 lbs. on occasion.
- Must be willing to work all scheduled hours, which may include evenings and weekends, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Have a valid, unrestricted Driver’s License.
- Have at least one (1) year experience working in a delivery, retail, or customer service position.
- Have previous experience working in a team-oriented setting (e.g., work experience, extracurricular activities, military service).
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in more than one language.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in Spanish.
- Be a rising or current Junior or Senior in college or university at the start of the internship program.
