The Position:
Dometic is looking for a Product Engineer Intern to join their Product Development capability. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a real impact, grow professionally, and discover your full potential within a dynamic environment.

- Location: Industrial Parkway (with a 4+1 remote work policy – 4 days in-office, 1 day remote)
- Department/Capability: Product Development
Internship Experience and Key Activities:
As a Product Design Intern, you will be involved in meaningful, hands-on work and experiences, including:
- PDM Assistance: Support Product Data Management processes.
- Product Design: Contribute to design efforts within various product lines such as Awnings, Refrigeration, and Sanitation.
- Prototype Development: Engage in the creation of prototypes, including 3D printing and first shot evaluations.
- Lab Testing: Conduct testing with early samples to identify and mitigate risks.
Your Main Responsibilities (Meaningful Projects):
The internship will include impactful projects designed to provide valuable experience and contribute directly to Dometic’s product development goals:
- Snap-Fit Design Guidelines: Develop comprehensive plastic snap-fit design guidelines for components, focusing on different plastics and varying loads, with the aim of eliminating traditional fasteners.
- Refrigerator Door Latch Design: Design a robust dual hinge door latch mechanism for refrigerators, capable of opening from both the right-hand (RH) and left-hand (LH) sides.
- Manufacturing Site Visit & Improvement Report: Spend two weeks at a Dometic manufacturing site to gain a deep understanding of assembly tolerances. Subsequently, report on design improvements that can enhance productivity.

Qualifications and Experiences (The Ideal Candidate):
The ideal candidate for this role will possess the following qualifications and experiences:
- Educational Status: Must be a current student or recent graduate of a university or college, with a minimum of a rising sophomore level.
- Relevant Coursework: Academic background with coursework related to engineering or manufacturing.
- Prototyping & Modeling: Experience with rapid prototyping processes and 3D modeling.
- SolidWorks Proficiency: Demonstrated ability in SolidWorks for modeling, model manipulation to show movement, and component interactions.
- Design for Manufacturing: Understanding and application of Design for Manufacturing principles.
Skills, Competencies & Characteristics for Success:
To thrive in this role, you should possess a blend of technical and soft skills:
- Technical Skills:
- Basic proficiency in MS Office software.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks.
- Ability to use precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong communication skills.
- Excellent teamwork abilities.
- Proven problem-solving capabilities.
