Job Summary:

SAIC is offering a paid Internship opportunity for a Defense Engineering Intern. This role supports the Software Development Team and is based onsite at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. The intern will gain practical experience in defense engineering, specifically focusing on software development for military systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply technical principles, theories, and concepts in a limited capacity.
  • Execute specific assigned tasks and objectives, with work reviewed by management against schedules.
  • Assist in the preparation of detailed designs for military systems.
  • Support the development of embedded software for various military applications.
  • Engage in the full software life cycle development, including requirements analysis, design, coding, integration, testing, documentation, and support.
  • Adhere to CMMI processes throughout the development life cycle for military systems.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or other technical degree program.
  • Must have completed at least two (2) years of college or possess equivalent work-related experience.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficiency in basic computer skills, including experience with virtual meeting platforms and cloud-based tools.
  • Demonstrated solid work experience in customer service or issue resolution, with a track record of meeting schedule requirements.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Highly motivated, adaptable, and flexible in a dynamic work environment.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and a strong ability to follow up on tasks, with keen attention to detail.
  • A team player who can encourage, inspire, and actively participate in collaborative efforts.

Security Clearance:

  • Minimum Clearance Required: Secret (Ability to obtain)
  • Clearance Level Must Be Able to Obtain: None
  • The ability to obtain a Secret security clearance is required for this position.
  • Some programs may allow interns to commence work without an active clearance, though an active clearance is preferred.
