Job Description
Job Title: Faculty Diversity Internship Program – Psychology
Organization: College of the Siskiyous
Program Focus: This year-long, remote internship is designed to equip aspiring community college faculty members with the necessary skills and knowledge for excellence in online teaching. It is part of the College of the Siskiyous Faculty Diversity Internship Program, which also aims to enhance the diversity of the Siskiyous faculty and enrich students’ educational experiences.
Key Dates:
- First Review Date: February 15, 2026
- Internship Begins: June 1, 2026
Compensation:
- A stipend of $1000 will be paid at the end of the Fall 2026 semester.
- During the Spring 2027 semester, interns will be paid $38.53 per hour for up to 7 hours of work per week.
Internship Structure & Activities (Academic Year 2026-2027):
The program is entirely remote and structured as follows:
- Mentorship: Regular meetings (approximately every 2 weeks) with a Faculty Mentor from the Siskiyous social science department throughout the 26-27 academic year.
- Summer & Fall 2026: Completion of approximately 80 hours of online teaching training.
- Spring 2027:
- Hands-on Experience: Assisting with the mentor’s online class. This may involve:
- Developing assignments or online learning units.
- Participating in class discussions.
- Organizing and attending student study groups or tutoring sessions.
- Grading.
- Professional Development: Attending 1-2 workshops.
- Portfolio Development: Completing and presenting an online teaching portfolio.
- Hands-on Experience: Assisting with the mentor’s online class. This may involve:

Candidate Requirements:
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Possess an equity-minded focus, demonstrating responsiveness, sensitivity, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
- Articulate how their participation will contribute to increasing the diversity of the Siskiyous faculty and enrich students’ experiences.
- Meet one of the following educational qualifications:
- Have recently obtained OR be an enrolled graduate student who has completed at least 50% of a Master’s or Doctoral degree in Psychology.
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology AND have completed at least 50% of a Master’s or Doctoral degree in Counseling, Sociology, Statistics, Neuroscience, or Social Work.
